So, can you eat before LASIK?
Yes, you can and should eat before LASIK surgery.
LASIK is not performed under general anesthesia, so there’s no risk of nausea or aspiration from a full stomach. In fact, we encourage you to have a light, healthy meal a few hours before your procedure.
This helps you:
- Maintain stable blood sugar levels
- Avoid feeling dizzy, weak, or faint
- Stay relaxed and comfortable during the procedure
What should you eat before LASIK?
Think of it like fueling your body without going overboard. You don’t want to show up with an empty stomach—but you also don’t want to eat a heavy, greasy meal.

- Toast with eggs
- Oatmeal with fruit
- A smoothie with protein
- Grilled chicken with vegetables
